Version 2020: Frequently asked questions.


I'm running KTS 20.0.14.1085(a) (due to internet speed issues with the current 19 builds) and I'm experiencing issues with the Chrome add-on, Chrono Download Manager.

Virtually each time when I save my downloaded file to a network drive, it gets downloaded but it's not accessible and a message "Virus scan failed" appears. This doesn't happen when I download the same file directly to my HDD, only the network (NAS hosted) folders are affected.

I've contacted the add-on developer but he believes it's the antivirus issue, not the add-on issue.

Can anyone advise if there's anything in KTS I can change to get rid of this issue?

Please open a support ticket in my Kaspesky account. Collect and attach traces and gsi.

Try to use Leechget. I uploaded the latest version a few days ago and it works wihth Kaspersky without any conflicts. It seems to me that these two software were created for each other. Just try. THink, you will like it.

Just wondering, are you using bitlocker?
Is it possible to get it from the main download page if I set the region to "Global"?

Do you mean:
https://www.kaspersky.com/total-security ?
KTS exe available, from the main d/l page, global or otherwise, is: KTS19.0.0.1088.0.1715.0.
When an manual update is run it will be 19.x, not 2020. KTS 2020, commercial release has not been released.
IF you wish to use KTS 2020 you need to ask Technical Support.

16th July 2019, Kaspersky "subject matter expert" advised http://dm.kaspersky-labs.com/en-US_fr-CA_es-US/KIS/20.0.14.1085/, is KSEC 2020, which was commercially released 10th July 2019.
Even tho the link is titled KIS, the contents of the list are for KSEC 2020.

Furthermore - (they said) the way to know when KIS/KAV/KTS 2020 (CR) is available is, go to: https://help.kaspersky.com/#/b2c, IF, the product you are interested in, has 2020 in the display window, that is 2020 CR for that product.

Personnaly i always suggest a clean install.

Also, your license from your own country is valid for the product that you downloaded from the Global site.
Most non EN Kaspersky 2020 versions will be available end August.

Kaspersky rolls out regions according to a schedule they know, we don't.
Even when we've contacted the Technical Support Team, some of the team seem to know, others don't.
Because Kaspersky have made an official announcement via the Kaspersky blog that 2020 has been released, it should be relatively soon for the commercial release to reach the majority of regions.
  • Re: the first question, as I understand, you have an installed, licensed KTS 2019.
(if it was me) I would (& I do) uninstalled the old software - ONLY saving licence information, reboot, download new software, install new software, reboot, run manual database, run manual full scan - allow full scan to complete with nothing else running. Check Kaspersky software, configure it to your needs.

Thanks for posting back. We're very happy to help.
  • Absolutely a clean install of Windows is not standard procedure when an upgrade of Kaspersky software is done.
  • Reinstalling the operating system under those circumstances would be rare to really rare - not normal.
  • However, when a major operating system upgrade is required, sometimes, it helps to uninstall the anti-virus software before the operating system upgrade.
  • After the operating system is updated, established, re-apply anti-virus software. That is not an uncommon procedure.

Thanks for the inquiry.
Kaspersky home product licence keys/activation codes are not interchangeable, so, for example: KAV key/code cannot be used for KIS, nor for KTS, KCS etc.
Irrespective of which product is installed, if the wish or need arises to change to a different product, a new licence/key must be aquired.

So, I've KTS 2019 *with license*, and I'm basically trying to update to KTS 2020.

Any idea how can I do that?

Hi @BigBadBong,

according to kaspersky, you can install 2020 on top of 2019.

We recommend:
  • uninstall 2019 (keep the activation data)
  • reboot
  • install the 2020
Takes a little longer, but is the safer way.

According to the Lab, this is their advice:
However, 2020 ANZ (Australia) release was 07 Aug 2019.
I've checked with some other folks in ANZ region, they haven't got a notification alert of any kind.
They are manually downloading & installing 2020.

Do you mean the license code? If that's correct, "yes", the license code will not change unless you are installing a newly licensed software that is not the licensed software you currently have.

****Before you update - log into your MyKaspersky account go to: https://my.kaspersky.com/MyLicenses#/ - make a copy of your license & activation info.

After installing Kaspersky software always do a full power off - shutdown, when the device restarts, make sure the application is active, run a manual database update, make sure it completes, then run a Full scan, allow it to complete.

All done, used this method:

  1. downloaded the 2020 web installer
  2. shut down all my running apps and all kts apps.
  3. Ran the installer, restarted
  4. Boot into windows,
  5. Done the second restart as requested by new kts install.
So all went smooth and updated to 20.0.14.1085(c)

So I visited Kaspersky home page to see what's new for the next version, and I a little bit confused when I saw the latest version is 20.0.xx while I only have 19.0.0.1088 (g) version. Does the 20 version will be downloaded automatically or I have to reinstall to get the latest version?
