New activation code from old sealed product purchased from Best Buy, KTS tells me “Activation Period expired”.

My KTS expired and I found a copy of Kaspeprsky Internet Security purchased from Best Buy long time ago that is still sealed. I opened the seal and entered in the new activation code, KTS tells me “Activation Period expired”.

I called the Kaspersky tech support and they told me the activation code has already been used .I  told the Kaspersky tech support that the key was likely compromised by someone with a key generator but the tech support told me the Kaspersky activation key can not be hacked.

They refused to give me a new activation code and asked me if I can prove that I have not already activated the NEW activation code already myself a while ago.

Hello @Casper,

Please provide the incident number for the issue you logged with Kaspersky Technical Support?

Thank you:pray_tone3:

Hi Flood,

the only thing I have is a reference # for the conversation I had with the Kaspersky Technical support:  11998023. I also requested his supervisor to call me and so far nobody has called yet.

I’m not even sure if I should be posting the conversation reference # in a public forum.

Also, I have another 4 copies of sealed Kaspersky Pure/Internet Security bought from Best Buy.

I’m now afraid to open the seals of the other 4 purchased Kaspersky products because I’m afraid the activations codes were also compromised by key generators and I would have no way to prove that I did NOT activate the 4 activation codes already once the seals are broken.

thank you

Hello @Casper

You’re most welcome:relaxed: !

Thank you for the additional information:ok_hand_tone3:

  • Posting the INC # 11998023 is helpful as one of the Kaspersky expert team who participate in the Community may see it & review the issue, that can be of benefit to you, especially, as, if how you’ve reported the history, thus far, the outcome has been unsatisfactory.
  • Regarding opening the other software, (ioo), atm, it’s probably best to leave them sealed, until this specific issue is resolved, also, if it turns out that the original key is problematic, you’re in a better position to go back to Best Buy and ask them to assist by providing untainted keys.
  • How long ago did you request for a call from the Supervisor?
  • A tip, it’s better to have all communications in writing, as a customer, you have no record of any verbal communications.

Thank you:pray_tone3:

Hi Flood,

I bought the 6 copies of Kaspersky Pure and internet security from best buy  many years ago. I activated 1 copy many years ago and after a year forgot about the 5 remaining sealed copies of Kaspersky pure and internet security I purchased from best buy.

Today, I opened 1 of the 5 sealed copies of  Kaspersky Pure and Internet security and found out the activation code has been compromised.

I requested a call from the supervisor about 7 or 8 hours ago.

I’m not going to buy another Kaspersky product and everyone I come across will hear my horror stories with Kaspersky products.

Hello @Casper

Thank you for the information:ok_hand_tone3:

  • We understand you’re upset & aggravated, we’ve felt similar on some occasions after having dealt with Kaspersky level 1 support staff, however, 7 or 8 hours ago is not very long, it may take a few days before a Supervisor is available to speak with you and, that’s not unreasonable
  • It’s your choice who you tell & what you say, however, you may wish to wait until the issue is resolved, atm, you do not know the outcome.

Thank you:pray_tone3:
