Can't Do a Full Scan

I’ve had Kaspersky Total Security for years. Yet whenever I try to do a Full Scan, I let the PC (Windows 8.1) run overnight. But, each time it scans only 1%, approximately 5, 000 files. Why doesn’t it perform a Full Scan? I can’t wait days to have this done as I typically turn off my PC each night.
