loss of days to my licence after adding new activation code

I have used Kaspersky Internet Security for several years now but this year after inputting my renewal activation code in in February it seems to have started my year’s subscription immediately instead of automatically renewing it in March when my 2020/2021 licence expired- so I have lost i month’s subscription!!  Why has this happened?

did you install this on your mobile phone when you lost your month’s subscription?

No I didn’t , I logged into my account on my PC and put the code in there
