Will we need to re-license when the 2021 version is released? Or will we get an update?

Welcome.

Free upgrade to the new version during your licence period.  :)

Yes, there are some changes in GUI and in green colour, some new features as support of DoH and others removed as TAM.

This is taken from online HELP of K2021MR0:

What's new

The following new features and improvements are introduced in Kaspersky Total Security:

Added full support for Microsoft Windows 10 19H2.
The following interface improvements were made:
Added link to the PC Cleaner window that takes the user to a list of applications that were installed without the user’s consent.
Added the ability to change the default application icon to the image of the bear Midori Kuma.
Added the ability to change the appearance of the graphical interface.
Improved support for the following browsers:
Secure Data Input technology has now been implemented in the Kaspersky Protection extension for the browsers Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge based on Chromium.
Added support for Microsoft Edge based on Chromium browser.
Limited support for the Microsoft Edge browser. This browser no longer supports Secure Data Input and Protected Browser. You continue to be protected during Traffic scanning.
Improved integration with Kaspersky Password Manager:
Implemented a joint installation feature with Kaspersky Password Manager.
Added notifications that help the user to download and install Kaspersky Password Manager. Notifications are displayed when the browser is opened.
Added ability to install the Kaspersky Password Manager extension in the browser from a notification.
The following feature was removed:
Application Advisor.
IM Anti-Virus
Trusted Applications mode.
Added ability to search for vulnerabilities in the operating system
Applied new Company rebranding. Now the Kaspersky name is used instead of Kaspersky Lab.
The user forum has been replaced with a user community (the web resource and links to it have been renamed).
Added ability to ignore notifications in the Notification Center.
Added dialog box to confirm changes to settings in the Manage applications window.
Improved Privacy Cleaner component Fixed Component bugs.
Improved integration with My Kaspersky:
New windows, buttons, and text elements have been added to the interface, which now allow you to save application activation codes to your My Kaspersky account.
After you activate the trial version of the application, you will now see a window prompting you to connect to My Kaspersky.
Added ability to display notifications about the need to set a password to access the application settings if the Kaspersky Safe Kids protection for kids application is installed on the computer.
Implemented user authorization to gain access to backup storage files. When restoring backups, the application now checks the user's access rights to the folders that the backup is being restored to. If the user does not have administrator rights, the user will not be able to restore data to a folder to which he does not have access rights.
Improved information display about the current license.
Removed the ability to save backups to a FTP server.

Hello @DaNTaF,

Welcome!

According to Kaspersky, atm:

  • “KTS, KIS, and KAV version 2021 has only been released for USA and Canada, it will be rolled out to Australia and New Zealand 11th August 2020 and will continue to be rolled out in staggered distribution to the rest of the world between August to October 2020”
  • Atm, the actual dates for “rest of the world” are not available, and as with all patches & versions, all dates are subject to change.
  • For KIS 2021 US & or Canada, the download link is available in Kaspersky Internet Security release notes

:warning: Make sure System requirements are confirmed before installing any new version.

Thank you:pray_tone3:

Thanks @Igor Kurzin when the TR ( Technical Release) English version of KIS 2021 will be out. I read that it will be out soon. Any idea when exactly?

Hi, TR 2021 English version will never be out. It has been given only by technical support and only in certain situations when it is necessary.

@AHS0, technical support applies to all users. If there is a problem that cannot be solved in the current version, technical support can provide you with a new version before its official release.

The company never announced the exact release dates for the new version.
Why should this year be any different?

Hi,

Welcome.

2021 is finished. And will be available for download soon. Kaspersky security cloud 2021 is available for download now. So another versions of Kaspersky will be ready very soon.

Hello @Sib3riX,

Welcome back!

  • The new version can be downloaded from the www (if it’s available in your region) or you may wish to wait for the silent auto-upgrade.
  • A version update should not affect current application settings, however, as (we) all know a version update has started for some regions & is “coming” = staggered distribution around the rest world, as a precaution, Export KIS Settings (configuration):one: , when the new version arrives & is applied, if any of the Settings/configuration have gone haywire, you’ll have (your) original Settings/config available to Import:two:

  • Note: after exporting Settings, don’t make any application changes & or, if application/firewall changes are made, export the new config each time.

Thank you:pray_tone3:

@Sib3riX ,
I just installed KIS2021 over v2020 without losing any settings in firewall/app control, but there are a few other settings that may revert to default afterwards-

https://support.kaspersky.com/KIS/2021_MR1/en-us/71677.htm

  • When a previous version of Kaspersky Internet Security is upgraded, the following application settings are replaced with default settings:
    • Kaspersky Internet Security display settings
    • Scan schedule
    • Participation in Kaspersky Security Network
    • File Anti-Virus protection level
    • Mail Anti-Virus protection level
    • Anti-Banner settings
    • Update sources
    • List of trusted web addresses
    • URL Advisor settings
  • After an upgrade from a previous version, Kaspersky Internet Security starts automatically even if automatic startup of the application is disabled in the settings that have been saved. When the operating system restarts afterwards, Kaspersky Internet Security does not start automatically if automatic startup of the application is disabled in the settings that have been saved.

@i9cripple

Thanks for info. Just upgraded to KIS 2021 over KIS 2020 and everything is working fine. Most of my settings are saved!

Hello,

Does KIS 2020 automatically upgrade to KIS 2021 or i need to do it manually (going to website and downloading installer). I dont want to lose my firewall settings for all apps installed on my pc.

https://www.kaspersky.com/blog/kis-automatic-update/6405/

I cant find any more information about it on google so im asking KIS users or maybe KIS agents here.

Thank you!

Is there any difference between USA version to EU?

Userlevel 7
Badge +11

Hello @DaNTaF,

You’re most welcome:slight_smile: !

  • (ioo) yes, otherwise Kaspersky would have combined the US, Canada & EU release, however, for an absolute answer, log a request with Kaspersky Technical Support, on the contacts page, select your Location, select Application use, select from available options: ONLINE CHAT (not available all locations) PHONE (not available all locations), SUBMIT A REQUEST - via your MyKaspersky account; include images and a detailed history.
  • After submitting the case, you’ll receive an automated email with an INC+12digits reference number, then, normally, within 5 business days, a Kaspersky Technical Support human will communicate with you, also by email, you may continue to engage with the Kaspersky Technical Team via email or by updating the INC in your MyKaspersky account.

Please share the outcome with the Community, when it’s available?

Thank you:pray_tone3:
