Kaspersky Servers Down? [Solved][Closed]

Hello,

my first post in this forum.

I am not able to install "Kaspersky Security Cloud – Free" [No connection to server] or update my Kaspersky Free Antivirus from KFA18 to KFA20 which I had previously installed.

I have been making attempts for the last two days.

I am using a fresh Windows installation.

Hello @snubbel,
:a:

If the Kaspersky Free anti-virus databases do not update:

  1. Check that the system date is set up correctly on your computer. See this article for instructions.
  2. Check your Internet connection. For example, try opening the Kaspersky Lab website. If you have no Internet access, contact your Internet service provider for additional information.
  3. Reset Internet Explorer settings. See the Microsoft support website for instructions.
  4. Check the availability of Kaspersky Lab update servers. To do this, click any of the links in server address list. If the server page loads successfully, then the Kaspersky Lab servers are available.
  5. If you have a third-party Firewall or other incompatible anti-virus applications installed on your computer, remove them manually.
  6. Make sure your computer is not infected:
  7. Reinstall Kaspersky Free.

:b:

  1. For the Cloud connection issue, may we have an image please?
  2. Are you trying to install Cloud on the same device as KAVFree is installed on?
  3. Have you reset your network?
  4. Has a software compatibility check been run?
  5. Have you run & proved network commands to any/all of the servers
  6. Please check the Update issues checklist?

Please let us know?

Thank you:pray_tone3:

Hello @FLOOD  and @Berny ,
thank you for your replies.

I have no problem installing Kaspersky Free Antivirus KFA18 and do a database update. It is the upgrade of the program to KFA20 that I am unable to perform.

A1, My time is correct (using NTP se.pool.ntp.org).
A2&4, No problem with connection. Trying to ping a few randomly picked servers from the list provided returns an average ping of around 28ms (I’m in Sweden) with max 29ms - no missing packets.
A3, resetting iE settings and a restart of my computer changed nothing.
A5, I’m using the built in firewall.
A6, Clean as a dinner plate.
A7, Upgrading is the problem - not installing the old software.

B1, Sure. When trying to install Kaspersky Cloud Security Free it just says “Can not connect to the applications installation source” in Swedish.

When installing Kaspersky Antivirus Free 18 it looks for an updated version of the software, with no success, and then continues with the installation.

KFA18 installer connects three times to http://dm.kaspersky-labs.com/en/KFA/18.0.0.405/x64/ and the server replies every time with

/en/KFA/19.0.0.1088/x64/
/common/dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe 43000680 1cf262f35322d6c9c7a27fca513fc269

B2, No
B3, Yes
B4, No compatibility problems. This is a fresh Windows 10-install.
B5, As in A2 and A4? Yes
B6 I will install KFA18 to provide you with the log reports… hang on…

Again thank you both for your replies

Hello @snubbel,

You’re most welcome:slight_smile: !

Thank you for replying & the information:ok_hand_tone3:

  1. May we have a GSI & Windows Logs?
  2. Can you check installing Cloud with a mobile phone, connected to the same network?

Please let us know?

Also , please check this Kaspersky Lab Article :

@FLOOD
1, Do you need the hole zip file (3.53MB) or just the ‘GetSystemInfoServiceLog.log’-file?
2, If you mean install Kaspersky Cloud Security from the PlayStore then that is a ‘No Problem All Is Good’

@Berny
Can I check the status of Kasperskys servers somewhere? I’ve tried installing/upgrading since tuesday and I apparently hit every single ‘down due to maintenance’ window...

Hello @snubbel,

Regarding the data, this is the advice I’ve been given by a Community Admin:

quote:

“Community portal is a public resource where one Kaspersky users are trying to help other ones. In order they have an ability to investigate the issue they should have a full picture of your situation, because the majority of problems are caused by system conditions and third-party software installed. GSI log contains only your system information and does not include your files, docs, pictures, passwords and so on. If you don't want to post your logs here you can contact to the official Kaspersky Technical Support via private services.”

unquote

However, as you’re using Kaspersky Free software, the option to contact Kaspersky Technical Support is not available.

As you have 2 devices, both unable to install the software, (imo) it’s indicative of an issue specific to the environment, it would be unusual if both devices had a system problem that was identical:thinking:

No I have a phone that works and does what it’s being told. I also have a computer running a fresh install of Windows 10 which will not upgrade Kaspersky Free Antivirus to the latest version 20.0.14.1085. I am now running KFA 18.0.0.405.

Before re-installing Windows I was using KFA20.0.14.1085 with no problems at all.

Hello @snubbel,

  • I understand the phone is working fine, attached to the n/w.
  • Just for clarity, there’s 1 device running KFA18 that will not upgrade to KFA20 & 1 device you’re not able to install Kaspersky Security Cloud – Free? Is that correct?
  • To avoid any confusion, please tell us the name of the device that there is no GSI for?

Atm, we have DESKTOP-43L1SMS.

  • KFA20.0.14.1085 was working fine before re-installing Windows, on which device - name please?

Thank you:pray_tone3:

The device running KFA18, which earlier was running KFA20, is the device that, at the moment, will not upgrade KFA18 to KFA20.

There is only one device.

Since the device did not want to upgrade to KFA20 I uninstalled KFA18.

I then tried installing “Kaspersky Security Cloud – Free” but it would not even connect to Kaspersky servers.

I then ran the device for a few hours without any Kaspersky software since my device doesn’t seem to connect to Kaspersky Upgrade Department.

Thank you for you help, questions and suggestions.

WOOO!

...now what?? Why isn’t the installer following the redirect given by the server?

---
I now have a folder with the files from the server response

server response

Plan is to
1, Copy and paste kfa18.0.0.405en_full.exe to the folder and see if it wants to use the files - Nope! No difference
2, Run startup.exe and just see what happends… :no_mouth:

It fails to connect/find a new version… so it asks to install..

Startup.exe talks to Kaspersky servers using HTTPS and I can’t read that so I’m stuck… damnit!

...now what?

It turns out that there are two more redirects

/bases/kavkis2020/KFA/index-bases-x64.txt
/kleaner/Interactive2020/Global/index-kleaner.txt

Once the files from these two are in the same folder as the rest KFA20 installs without any complaints!

So the issue is with the installer not following the redirects from the server replies.

I wonder why...

I want to add that I did not reproduce the issue with mentioned installation files. I have no errors with installation of KSC Free.

In such cases further it is better to contact Tech support.

The most probably they will ask for GSI with installation logs + concrete instllation file (for which the error occurs).

@Anton Mefodys Thank you for your reply. Since you say you have managed to make a successful installation I will give it a try again in the weekend with KSC Free.

I will update with my success (or lack there of)

@Anton Mefodys
I have now tried to install KSC Free with no change.

Thankfully the error report from the installer contained the URL I needed to be able to replicate the procedure from my attempt with KFA20 (the KSC Free installer uses HTTPS which I am not able to read).

All the best!
